Our client asked us to turn their grade II listed barn into a spa retreat to include a swimming pool with changing facilities and a sauna on the ground floor.  Ascending a feature staircase that spirals around a hot tub to the first floor viewing gallery overlooking the pool provides access to a new gym and games room.
 

Early on with every heritage project a characterisation study is undertaken to identify any significant historic features that can be celebrated.  Here some ‘blind’ windows in the long elevation were to be exposed and the original oak roof trusses were to be cleaned and repaired.
