Building Type:
New five bed family home in the Greenbelt
Location:
Piccotts End
Status:
Planning permission in the Greenbelt
Size:
400 m²
This Greenbelt site has been vacant for over ten years and was once the location of a Victorian hospital. An historic 3m high wall, and the memory of the original terraced cottages, have been incorporated into the design of the new dwelling. The new home is predominantly single storey with timber cladding and a planted roof to minimise the impact on the openness of the Greenbelt, whilst the section of the home that contains the bedrooms and gym is finished in facing brick with a smaller first floor element to balance the scale of the two storey neighbouring properties.
Renewable energy services include an air-source heat pump, mechanical ventilation heat recovery, photovoltaic solar panels on the roof with battery storage, underfloor heating throughout and low energy lighting. An electric car charging point is also included.
